"What's new?" That's the first thing I ask importers when purchasing new breeding stock. So, it shouldn't come as a surprise when most of you ask the same question. We're all excited to see what new jewels these lakes have to offer. It's one of the engines that drive the cichlid hobby. To this end, we've made a commitment to pursue the newest and rarest fish available. Our goal is to add six to eight species each month. When fry become available, you'll see these additions pop up in the "New and Featured" section of our homepage. There are over 1000 species of cichlids combined in Tanganyika and Malawi. So, we can keep this going for a long time!

Cichlids from the great lakes of Africa have occupied a special place in the aquarium hobby ever since their importation in the early 70’s. These fish, first from Lake Malawi and later from Lake Tanganyika, offered the unbeatable combination of intense coloration coupled with highly evolved reproductive behaviors.
